Clothing and Personal Belongings
A Few Reminders:
- Please label all items (coats, hats, boots, lunch boxes, water bottles and backpacks) that your child brings to school. It will be much easier to return lost items to your child if they are labeled.
- Your child will need a backpack each day. We ask that you do not purchase backpacks with wheels. These do not fit under our cubbies and have even proven dangerous with children swinging them around.
- We work and play hard at school, so “play clothes” and shoes are suggested. On P.E. (Physical Education) days, please see that your child wears appropriate footwear.
- Everyday we will go outdoors except under extreme conditions, so cold-weather gear is a must on winter days. Help your child by teaching him/her to button/zip coats and tie shoes.
- Regarding personal items, we request that students do not bring toys to school. This includes electronic games, stuffed animals, dolls, sports equipment, etc. Such items can become lost or broken at school and will become a distraction during class time. On occasion, we may ask your child to bring in a favorite item or an item of interest that will support our learning. A note and/or email will always come home regarding such requests.
Note About Sending in Money
There are times when it is necessary to send money to school with your child. It is important that all money be sent to school in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, his/her teacher’s name printed on it and a note explaining what the money is for (i.e. Scholastic Book Fair).
